Project Overview

MateSpends is a mobile expense tracker that helps users log daily transactions, set budgets, and visualize spending habits through charts and reports. Built with Flutter and Firebase, it syncs data across devices and offers category-based insights.

Problem Statement

Many students struggle with financial awareness. MateSpends simplifies personal finance by offering an intuitive, ad-free tool to track income and expenses—encouraging mindful spending without complex accounting knowledge.

How It Is Done

The app uses Flutter for cross-platform UI, Firebase Firestore for real-time data sync, and charts_flutter for visualizations. Users can add transactions with categories, attach notes, and view monthly summaries. State management is handled via Provider, and authentication ensures data privacy. Future plans include recurring bills and export features.
